Additionally, in collaboration with Disney Friends for Change, kids between the ages of 5 and 18 across Radio Disney's 31 markets are invited to enter for a chance to win a Youth Service Award, which provides one kid from each market with a $500 grant to benefit their Community project and a chance to be honored live on-stage at the Radio Disney Music Awards with one of their favorite stars. 

The night's currently scheduled lineup of featured performances includes artists across such major record labels as Atlantic Records, Epic Records, Universal Republic Records and Hollywood Records. Selena Gomez has been tapped to headline the Radio Disney Music Awards.

Gomez leads a group of young artists, including Bridgit Mendler, Cody Simpson, YouTube sensation Austin Mahone, Cher Lloyd and Coco Jones, who will perform at L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre on Saturday, April 27, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Exclusive: Selena Gomez's Return to 'Wizards'

A year after the finale of Wizards of Waverly Place, the series that brought her to fame, Selena Gomez is returning to the show for a TV special this March. ETonline has your exclusive first look at the trailer for Gomez's anticipated return to Wizards.

In the trailer for the special, entitled "The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex," Gomez's character, "Alex Russo," is pressured by her loved ones to put an end to her magic, which forces her to divided into two different people.

Gomez, who was a regular on the show for the duration of its four-series run on the Disney Channel, also makes her producing debut in the special with the aid of Wizards' producers Vince Cheung, Ben Montanio, Dan Cross and Dave Hoge.

The 20-year-old actress appears to put her full acting arsenal on display in her return to the show that she began when she was 15, as we are teased with both dramatic and action scenes.

Since Wizards' finale, Gomez has taken on roles in a variety of films, from the crime drama Spring Breakers (March 2013 release) to the action film Getaway (August 2013 release).

A year after the last Wizards of Waverly Place episode aired, we get a first look at art from the one-hour reunion special airing this March, The Wizards Return: Alex vs Alex. The special will follow Selena Gomez’s Alex and the rest of the Russo family as they visit long-lost relatives in Tuscany. A spell goes wrong and splits Alex in two, resulting in an Evil Alex who wants to take over the world — and a Good Alex who must stop Evil Alex at any cost. The story leads to a climactic battle between Alex’s two selves atop the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Pretty much all of that is referenced in the concept art below. And nothing screams evil like a Cruella De Vil-esque streak of white hair.

Last year’s Wizards series finale attracted 11.3 million total viewers, making it the number one cable kids’ telecast of all time. Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie became the second most-watched cable TV movie of all time — after High School Musical 2 — when its premiere garnered 13.5 million total viewers in 2009.

Watch out, Catwoman, there's a new leather lady in town—and she's got a wand!

E! News received exclusive photos from the Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place TV special, and it looks like Selena Gomez's character will be getting comfortable in some tight attire for The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex airing in March.

Dressed in an all-black, leather jumpsuit with knee-high boots, Alex (Gomez) reaches for the sky with her special wand and a look on her face that's either determination or desperation (we can't really tell from this angle).

Here's what's going down...

The one-hour episode begins with the Russo family and friends traveling to Tuscany, Italy, to meet their long lost relatives, but they run into a little problem when Alex tries to prove she's more than a seemingly carefree young Wizard.

Without realizing it, she conjures a spell that creates a Good Alex and an Evil Alex (dun dun dunnnn). When Evil Alex gets roped into a plan to take over the world, Good Alex must find a way to save her family and humankind, which leads to a monumental battle between the two versions of herself.

And all this is done on top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa...while wearing leather.

Disney casting background performers for 'The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex'

It's a Laugh Productions is producing the upcoming hour-long Wizards of Waverly Place special for Disney Channel titled "The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex". Background extras are currently being hired and will be cast throughout production. Shooting is taking place in Santa Clarita, CA. Disney Channel stated that after the huge ratings of the "Wizards" finale on January 6, 2012, it became obvious that fans of the show were not ready to say farewell to Selena or the rest of the cast. Therefore the cast agreed to reunite to bring their fans one last grand adventure!

Victor Gonzalez is directing "The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex" from a teleplay written by two-time Primetime Emmy Award winners Ben Montanio and Vince Cheung, along with long-time Disney Channel writer Daniel Berendsen. Gonzalez directed the majority of "Wizards of Waverly Place" episodes, and has also directed multiple episodes of the Disney Channel shows "Pair of Kings," "Lab Rats," "Kickin' It," and "A.N.T. Farm". The creative team of Ben Montanio and Vince Cheung have written for such hit shows as "Married with Children," "Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior," "The Steve Harvey Show," and "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide". In addition to writing for many Disney Channel series, Daniel Berendsen wrote the Disney Channel movies "Hannah Montana: The Movie," "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie," "The Cheetah Girls: One World," and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam".

'Wizards of Waverly Place' movie special details: Selena Gomez gets a new love interest -- plus where's Justin?

On Thursday, Disney announced that "Wizards of Waverly Place" is coming back! At least, for one big special. The fan favorite series ended after four seasons on The Disney Channel, but the Russo family and their friends are coming back for a special movie, in which they all head to Tuscany to meet their long-lost relatives.

"Wizards of Waverly Place" stars Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera, David DeLuise and Gregg Sulkin will return along with star and executive producer Selena Gomez.

Now, Zap2it has even more details for you! First of all, the reason David Henrie's character Justin won't be in the special? He's already got plans! During the "Wizards" filming dates between Oct. 22 and Nov. 10, Henrie will be filming a movie, and the conflicting schedules were too difficult to rework.

Alex (Gomez) may benefit from not having her protective older brother around, though... because she's getting a new love interest! Producers are currently casting for Dominic, a hot Italian guy who encounters Alex as she tries to prove herself as a wizard. Oh -- did we mention that he, too, is a wizard?

Described as "handsome and mysterious," Dominic is "heartthrob, model good looking." "Did we mention that he should be really, really, handsome?" the casting directors add. Uh, yeah. You did. Mason (Sulkin) definitely has some competition here -- but we think he's got a leg up in this case, because while Dominic seems sweet, he's got anther side to him that Alex might not particularly like.

They're also casting the major comedic role of Carmela, Jerry's (Deluise) cousin from Italy. The actress cast will hopefully be fluent in Italian. And by the way -- they're filming in California, not Tuscany. Gotta love movie magic!

The television special was written by Vince Cheung and Ben Montanio (“Wizards of Waverly Place”) and Dan Berendsen (ABC Family’s “Baby Daddy”). Selena Gomez, Cheung and Montanio and Dan Cross and David Hoge are the executive producers. It will be directed by Victor Gonzalez (“Wizards of Waverly Place”). “Wizards of Waverly Place” was created by Todd J. Greenwald (“Hannah Montana”) and is a production of It’s a Laugh Productions for Disney Channel.
