Disney Junior's "Sofia the First," a fairytale about a little
girl who becomes a princess, debuts in an illustrated storybook from
Disney Publishing TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30, in a DisneyJunior.com/Sofia
online experience FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2, in a digital EP album from Walt
Disney Records TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13 on iTunes and other digital
retailers, and in an animated television movie event, "Sofia the First:
Once Upon A Princess," premiering SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18 (7:00-8:00 p.m.,
ET/PT) on Disney Channel and THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22 (9:00-10:00 a.m.,
ET/PT) on the 24-hour channel Disney Junior. A "Sofia the First" series
premieres in early 2013.
The "Sofia the
First" experience on DisneyJunior.com/Sofia features a downloadable
premiere party kit for "Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess" including
invitations, recipe ideas and activity booklets.
Created
for kids age 2-7 and their parents/caregivers, and starring the voices
of Ariel Winter (ABC's "Modern Family"), Sara Ramirez (ABC's "Grey's
Anatomy"), Wayne Brady ("Let's Make a Deal"), and Tim Gunn ("Project
Runway"), "Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess" introduces Sofia, an
average girl whose life suddenly transforms when her mother marries the
king of Enchancia and she becomes a princess. Sofia soon discovers that
looking like a princess isn't all that difficult, but displaying
honesty, loyalty, courage, independence, compassion and grace is what
makes one truly royal.

In
keeping with the mother-daughter themes in the movie, Disney Channel
stars Skai Jackson ("Jessie") and Mia Talerico ("Good Luck Charlie") and
their moms will host a telecast Monday, November 19 (8:00 a.m., ET/PT)
on Disney Channel. The movie also becomes available that day on WATCH
Disney Junior, Disney Junior On Demand and DisneyJunior.com.
Celebrity
mom Alison Sweeney ("The Biggest Loser") and her daughter will host a
telecast Thursday, November 22 (7:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Junior.
The
illustrated storybook Sofia the First, which introduces readers to the
world of Sofia, was written by Catherine Hapka with illustrations by
Grace Lee. It will be available from Disney Press, an imprint of Disney
Publishing Worldwide, as a Book and eBook at retailers nationwide.
Disney
Junior reflects the emotional connection generations of consumers have
to Disney storytelling and Disney characters, both classic and
contemporary. It invites mom and dad to join their child in the Disney
experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters,
while incorporating specific learning and development themes designed
for kids age 2-7. Disney Junior's series blend Disney's unparalleled
storytelling and characters kids love deeply with learning, including
early math, language skills, healthy eating and lifestyles, and social
skills. Disney Junior launched in February 2011 with a daily programming
block on Disney Channel. In its first year, Disney Junior posted the
network's biggest yearly audience in the daypart in Total Viewers, Kids
2-5, Boys 2-5 and Women 18-49, increasing by double-digit margins among
preschooler demographics over year-ago levels. On March 23, 2012 Disney
