Disney Channel Breaks New Ground with Good Luck Charlie Episode
[Via tvguide.com...]
In a first for the Disney Channel, next season an episode of Good Luck Charlie will feature a family with two moms.
Producers are currently casting the couple, with production set for next week. The episode will air in early 2014 as part of Good Luck Charlie's final season. Because Good Luck Charlie is coming to a close, the characters are only expected to appear in this one episode.
In the storyline, parents Amy and Bob Duncan (Leigh-Allyn Baker and Eric Allan Kramer) set up a playdate for preschooler Charlie (Mia Talerico) and one of her new friends. When the kid arrives, the Duncans learn that Charlie's pal has two moms. That's fine, but the potential new friendship is put to the test as one mom chats with Amy, and the other is stuck listening to Bob's dull stories.
The playdate is actually the secondary story in the episode, as much of the action will center on Teddy (Bridgit Mendler) and her best friend Ivy, as Ivy prepares to head off to college.
But Disney Channel understands the groundbreaking nature of featuring a same-sex couple on one of its sitcoms and took extra care in crafting the episode. "This particular storyline was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisors," a Disney Channel spokesperson says. "Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness."
Disney Channel already tested the waters last year with its on-air social outreach campaign "Make Your Mark." In one segment, a teen with two moms was featured, a move that was called a "big step forward" by GLAAD.

There will be multiple opportunities for fans to see and interact with the stars, including online chats, autograph signings and the Red Carpet leading into Disney Channel FanFest, which will take place at Hoyts and The Hi-Fi in Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter at Moore Park.
The television premiere of “Teen Beach Movie” will be Friday, August 9th, at 7 p.m. AEST on Disney Channel on Foxtel and SKY NZ. The Disney Channel Original Movie is an exuberant song, sand and surf fest set inside a retro beach party movie. “Teen Beach Movie” introduces confident, resilient surfer McKenzie (Mitchell) and her carefree boyfriend Brady (Lynch), a fan of the retro surf musical movie, “Wet Side Story.” On the morning of McKenzie’s planned departure for boarding school, she and Brady catch one last epic wave which mysteriously carries them right into “Wet Side Story,” circa 1962. Amidst the spontaneous song and dance, there’s trouble in paradise — it’s bikers versus surfers for control of the local hangout, but Mack and Brady unwittingly interfere with the movie’s star-crossed plot.
“We’re thrilled to host Disney Channel FanFest, a unique, once in a lifetime fan experience and a first of its kind for us”, said Leisa Sadler, General Manager, Branded Media Content, Disney Channels Australia and New Zealand. “The event welcomes home Disney Channel’s first Australian star, Maia Mitchell, whom we introduced in ‘Mortified’, a Disney Channel Australia co-production. In addition, Disney Channel FanFest will be the Australian premiere of Disney Infinity, where Australian kids will be given the first opportunity to play Disney’s most ambitious video game initiative ever, before it’s available for purchase. Disney Infinity is an all-new game that combines Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios’ most popular franchises with one of today’s hottest trends in toys – interactive figures that come to life in the video game. A spark of imagination unlocks a fantastical world where players have unprecedented freedom and endless opportunity to create stories and play experiences. Disney Infinity will be released in Australia on August 22 and will be available across all platforms, including Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii U, Wii and 3DS.
Disney Channel will hold its first-ever Disney Channel FanFest on Sunday, August 4th, in Sydney.
Appearing will be Bridgit Mendler (Good Luck Charlie), Ross Lynch of (Austin & Ally), Spencer Boldman of (Lab Rats) and Maia Mitchell (Teen Beach Movie) originally from Lismore, NSW.

Sierra McCormick Talks A.N.T. Farm Season 3
[Via starrymag.com...]
Q) What are the recent projects you are working on?
A) We just wrapped the third season of "A.N.T. Farm" and it will premiere on May 31st. Make sure you tune in and check your local listings for times!
Q) What are we going to be learning this season on "A.N.T. Farm" about Olive and friends?
A) There is definitely a change in location and there are lots of boy troubles coming for Olive. It will be quite interesting!
Q) Was there something about Olive that wasn't originally scripted for you that you added to the role?
A) Olive is cocky sometimes and other times not. When she is, she kind of thinks she's a hot thing. I kind of added the cockiness when it comes to thinking she's very attractive and the way she flirts.
Q) How does the cast continue to maintain such great chemistry together?
A) We all get along pretty well. When ever I have a storyline with Alexandria Deberry (who plays Paisley), it's so funny. She's a good friend of mine and I love her. Her character isn't smart and Olive is ridiculously smart. When they are together, it's the funniest thing. We have great chemistry and we always play off each other. Also, with Aiden Mincks (who plays Angus) I have great chemistry with him because he's just the cutest thing in the world and I love him. We all have such fun together that it's hard not to have chemistry.
Q) With your busy filming schedule, how do you find time for fun?
A) I make time! We get breaks and I find the time. I also attend school, which makes it a little more difficult to find time, but I always manage to sneak it in. School is fun for me though because I get to go and see everyone.
Q) Who can you tease as guest stars for this season of "A.N.T. Farm?"
A) I can't give anything away, but we do have a couple of new characters coming onto the show and they'll be very interesting. They are so funny! We have Dominic who kind of runs the school because he's a billionaire. He is hilarious! We have a couple other people that bring so much to the show with their energy and comedy. It was great to have them!
Q) What have been some of your favorite moments from filming this season?
A) Some of my favorite moments from season three are all the scenes in the whole new location and the school. It's really fun and the sets are colorful. All of those mirror our energy and have brightened our day. The sets are so pretty and fun. Also, you may not see this, but the fun that we have behind the scenes joking around and messing around having fun are some of my favorite parts.
Q) When the show began, did you think it would become such a fan favorite?
A) I think I did because when I read the first few scripts I laughed and I laugh at them all the time! We have such a great team of writers, producers and directors that it was kind of hard not for it to succeed when we had so many great people behind us. It's kind of hard not to be successful when you have such a great time. There was never a doubt in my mind that it wouldn't be successful.
Q) What are your recent obsessions? Is there a book, sport, band, film, etc. that you are really into at the moment?
A) I haven't seen it yet, but I've read the book and I'm really into it; I'm very excited to see The Great Gatsby. The excitement is like leaking through my pores! I haven't seen it yet because I've been pretty busy with the show. It's one of my favorite books so I'm kind of obsessed with seeing it.
Q) What do you think it is about "A.N.T. Farm" that has really capture so many viewers?
A) I think it's the age range because we can appeal to older kids and younger kids. We're kind of playing middle schoolers in high school so we can kind of capture both demographics. Also, the way "A.N.T. Farm" works is that we kind of feel out of place. I think that can really strike deep into the hearts of viewers. A lot of kids that feel out of place can relate to us and I think that's what makes the show so relatable. We aren't exactly the cool kids and we aren't super popular where we're breezing through our social life in middle school and high school. It's relatable because we go through certain troubles that other kids can feel like they relate to it.

Disney Channel Greenlights Twins Comedy Series Starring Olivia Holt
[Via hollywoodreporter.com...]
One day after greenlighting Boy Meets World spinoff Girl Meets World to series, Disney Channel has ordered a half-hour comedy led by Kickin' It breakout Olivia Holt, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
I Didn't Do It, co-starring Holt and newcomer Austin North, follows competitive fraternal twins Lindy (Holt) and Logan Watson (North), who with their best friends navigate freshman year of high school. Each episode kicks off with a "What just happened?" situation, which breaks off into Lindy's and Logan's own versions of the event. The multicamera comedy will employ flashbacks to fill out the twins' stories.
Production will begin later this summer in Los Angeles, with an eye toward a 2014 debut on Disney Channel.
"We are looking forward to presenting our viewers with the humor, friendship and unexpected plot twists this unique sitcom offers by beginning each episode with the end of the story," said Adam Bonnett, executive vp original programming at Disney Channels Worldwide. "We have assembled a top-notch creative team and cast of talented young actors with incredible comedic chemistry who already feel like they have been close friends since childhood."
Also starring in I Didn't Do It is Piper Curda (A.N.T. Farm), Sarah Gilman (Last Man Standing) and Peyton Clark. (THR debuts a first look at the cast below.) Tod Himmel (90210, The Starter Wife), who serves as executive producer, and Joseph Silverstein (So Random), supervising producer, co-created the series. Judd Pillot (According to Jim) is also executive producing.
The news comes after the kids-targeted cable network added Girl Meets World to its slate and opted to wrap up veteran Bridgit Mendler's sitcom Good Luck Charlie after four seasons.
Actress-singer Holt, who plays Kim on the martial arts-inspired Kickin' It, is no stranger to the Disney family, having also starred in the Disney Channel TV movie Girl vs. Monster. She won a Radio Disney Music Award for Best Crush Song for "Had Me @ Hello." Holt is repped by Paradigm and Principato-Young. North is repped by Coast to Coast and Curtis Talent.

Disney Channel Orders 'Girl Meets World' to Series
[Via thewrap.com...]
The "Boy Meets World" spinoff will debut in 2014
Thirteen years after ABC's coming of age comedy, "Boy Meets World," signed off in 2000, it's getting a spinoff.
Disney Channel announced on Monday that it has officially ordered the "Girl Meets World" pilot to series. The youth cable network has yet to determine the amount of episodes for the order, though production on the comedy begins this summer for a 2014 debut.
"'Boy Meets World' and its story of adolescent self discovery resonated with an entire generation of tweens," Disney Channel Worldwide's original programming executive vice president, Adam Bonnett, said in a statement.
"In the same way audiences fell in love with Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, we look forward to introducing our viewers to their daughter Riley Matthews in 'Girl Meets World' and building a memorable connection with a whole new generation of fans."
Eleven-year-old "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World 4D" star Rowan Blanchard will play the titular "girl" with Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel reprising their roles as childhood sweethearts Cory and Topanga, relatively.
On the spinoff set in New York City, Cory and Topanga Matthews' daughter, Riley (Blanchard), takes on seventh grade with best friend, Maya ("Sofia the First" star Sabrina Carpenter). Cory is a history teacher at the school while Topanga owns a diner, a popular after school hangout.
"I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids," Michael Jacobs, who created "Boy Meets World" and its spinoff, said.
"'Girl Meets World' is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made 'Boy Meets World' so popular."
"Boy Meets World" writer/producer April Kelly co-created the spinoff with Jacobs, who will executive produce the It's a Laugh Productions Inc. multi-camera series.
On the pilot, Teo Halm plays Riley's older brother Elliott; Peyton Meyer plays a romantic interest for Riley; Corey Fogelmanis is a smart fellow student; and William Daniels reprises his role of Mr. Feeney, school principal and later a college professor on the original series. Disney Channel didn't confirm if the actors would move on with the series.
Jacobs has said there's a good chance that Rider Strong will reprise his role as Cory's best friend, Shawn Hunter, the only character to appear on every episode of "Boy Meets World" aside from Cory and Topanga.

Disney's Teen Beach Movie Inspires Summer Fashion
[Via tv3.ie...]
Disney's 'Teen Beach Movie' is set to inspire summer fashion.
The movie depicts teenagers Brady (Ross Lynch) and McKenzie ('The Fosters' actress Maia Mitchell), who are transported into their favourite film, the 1960s era 'Wet Side Story', and stylist Daniel Musto believes the fashion of the swinging sixties is the perfect look for summer.
He advised: ''You can show off the 'Teen Beach Movie' inspired look of lead actress Maia Mitchell by pairing a top and skirt together in identical mod fabrics, but make sure the top hits below your belt line. You achieve a streamline look!''
Daniel says the fashion in the movie isn't just for girls, he also thinks young men can take inspiration from the clothes sported by its male stars, such as Garrett Clayton, who plays teen matinee idol Tanner.
He added: ''Beach hunks deserve summer appeal, too, especially from Garrett Clayton. A fun way to mix up the normal is to pair a light-weight, long-sleeve T-shirts with denim shorts. Roll up the sleeves and the shorts and you will be stopping traffic. If you like a classic look, throw on high-top converse.''
'Teen Beach Movie' will premiere on Disney Channel US and UK and on Family Channel Canada on Friday July 19 (8pm, ET/PT).

Disney Channel’s ‘Good Luck Charlie’ To End Its Run
[Via deadline.com...]
Good Luck Charlie, part of Disney Channel’s strategy for targeting families with more authentic stories told from the young characters’ POV but also relatable to their parents, was a breakout for Disney Channel, earning a second-season renewal three months into its freshman run in spring 2010. It hit its zenith with the December 2011 movie Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas, which drew a 8.3 million viewers to become the most-watched cable live-action movie of the year. The show still is doing respectable business. For 2012, it was TV’s #1 series across kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. Year to date, it is averaging 3 million total viewers per episode and is the #1 series in its time period among all kid demos — 2-11, 6-11 and tweens. However, Disney Channel tends to pull the plug on its shows, even the most successful ones like Hannah Montana and Wizards Of Waverly Place, once they hit the 100 episode mark. As the channel puts it, “all good things must come to an end.”
Cast of "JESSIE" Rumoured to Make a Guest Appearance on "Good Luck Charlie"
