Disney Channel star Adam Irigoyen talks “Shake it Up” and new music

[Via nbclatino.com...]

You may know Adam Irigoyen best from the Disney Channel hit show, “Shake it Up,” but the Cuban American cutie wants fans to know that there’s much more to come from the 15-year-old Miami native.

“I’ve had big dreams ever since I was really small,” confides Irigoyen. “I knew I wanted to be on the Disney Channel and make music and now I’m close to making my dreams come true.”

Irigoyen definitely can achieve whatever he puts his mind to and the star – currently filming the third season of “Shake it Up” in Los Angeles – has a pretty good track record to date. When he was just ten years old, he launched what he calls a “nagging” campaign to get his parents to set him up with an agent and move across the country to LA.

“It was a big risk for any family, but my parents knew that this was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” says Irigoyen.

For Irigoyen, who has quickly become one of Disney’s new emerging stars alongside fellow “Shake it Up” cast member Bella Thorne, working on a television show set is truly “the coolest thing every day,” he says.

“I love how my character is growing up, seeing new relationships and experiencing cool things,” explains Irigoyen, who is one of four siblings. “But the hard part of having such a great job is that you have to do school and work at the same time, which is challenging.”

Irigoyen, who says his favorite subject in school is  health, has added a brand-new project to his already busy schedule. He’s in the midst of recording new music – both in English and Spanish – and is excited about the November 13 premiere of his new single “School Girl.” The video for the single was directed by legendary music icon David Rousseau, who has worked with mega-watt music icons like Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias and Shakira.

“It’s really important to me that my music be bilingual and Latin, because that’s a reflection of who I am,” says Irigoyen, who says he loves all types of music ranging from Celia Cruz to Elvis and the rock band the Eagles.

“Nobody makes music that keeps the flavor of the old days, you know?” reflects Irigoyen. “So I thought it would be pretty awesome to make my first single a remake of a classic.”

That classic – “La Colegiala” – has now been revamped by Irigoyen with new English lyrics, a new title (“School Girl”) and a contemporary rhythm that the teen star hopes to make his signature.

“I want to be known as someone who keeps the soul of Latin music while keeping it fresh and cool,” he says. “I want it to be something my grandparents could listen to but that my friends will love.”

Irigoyen – who says he loves acting and singing equally – says he has high hopes for a successful music career and would love to collaborate with Pitbull (“that’d be awesome, he says, “two Cuban boys from Miami!”). He also looks up to Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony; Latinos he explains, who “have made their mark in acting and singing just like I want to do.”

At the end of the day however, Irigoyen hopes to let the millions of Latino youth across the country that it’s an “awesome thing” to display cultural pride while pursuing their dreams.

“I’m just so proud to be Cuban and Hispanic,” says Irigoyen. “I feel like I can communicate with so many different kinds of people because of my heritage and I really think that being Latino is one of the biggest blessings that I’ve gotten in this world.”

Story:

“Girl Meets World” picks up where “Boy Meets World” left off. Riley Mathews, the preteen daughter of Cory and Topanga who married on the original series, tells the story from her point of view. Riley attends a school where her father is also one of her teachers, and her brother is one grade above her – and often reminds her that he is also one grade higher in life’s experiences. If opposites attract, then Riley’s relationship with her best friend Maya is a perfect example. Riley is a happy, optimistic, cheery, and high spirited 13 year old girl with great parents – while Maya is a not-so-trusting pessimistic girl who has never met her father. Regardless, the two are immensely loyal to each other as friends.

Disney Channel UK's Electra Formosa Interview: "Get The Look" Season 2

[Via Entertainment-Focus.com...]

At just 22, Electra Formosa can boast that she's worked on How To Look Good Naked, Gok Wan’s Fashion Fix and Ten Years Younger. Her styling alumni consist of start such as Alex Zane, Myleene Klass, All Saints and Gethin Jones.

Being the daughter of make-up artist Ariane Poole, she has glamour in her blood and would seem destined for a bright and fabulous career in the fashion industry.

Electra Formosa presents Get The Look every day only on the Disney Channel. In an interview with EF the bubbly presenter and fashionista talks about her show, her favourite fashion items and reveals the exciting projects lined up for 2013.

Get the Look has been given a second series, so what can we expect in this series?
We’ve got some great guest stars on, Debbie Ryan and Greg Sulkin. It’s been great to work with some of the Disney talent and kind of gives it an extra layer of insider insight really.

Excellent. You’re doing Minnie and Me as well, so how did that come about?
It came about through Disney and the franchise of Minnie and yeah, I think it’s been a really great result ... and we did a big thing down at fashion week which was great also.

What do you love about your job?
Well I’m kind of quite lucky I kind of have every girl’s dream job, I get to shop a lot and wear gorgeous clothes and the thing about Disney as well – it’s kind of like a childhood dream!

I would love to have your job! I love what you’re doing! Ok so you give a lot of tips to young girls on how to glam up their style or give it a bit of an edge. Where do you get your ideas from?
Well it works on quite a number of things, I take a lot of inspiration from the Disney stars in the Disney shows, we – myself and the team that I work with – we look at all the outfits the Disney characters and what they have worn and break it down from there and I can see what the stylist or costume designer has thought about, all the elements and take it from there, all the pieces that are easy to customise at home and make your own.

Whose style do you most admire?
Well ... my style I kind of take from a lot of different people I don’t have one person who I’m absolutely in love with ... I like the style of Pixie Lott and Goslett Grey, people like Katy Perry and Rihanna for their cool, quirky styles, I like to take it and maybe tone it down a little bit ...

Well yes, you can’t really walk around Kensington High Street dressed in frilly knickers like Rihanna! So what’s your own personal style?
I’m quite a girly girl, I’m not really jeans and t-shirt I like to be quite glamorous quite a lot of the time – I love dresses and anything that’s quite cute and girly really. If it’s got a heart or a bow on it I’m probably gonna love it!

So what’s your favourite item at the moment?
I’ve got a few staple pieces in my wardrobe that I couldn’t live without – I’ve got a leather jacket that I just live in and I’ve got some black wedge ankle boots that I feature quite a lot on my shows, which I’ll compliment with a little ribbon just to give it that girly touch – but they’re so comfortable and I wear them all the time.

Who’s your favourite designer?
I love Lulu Guinness for her bags and accessories – I absolutely love her. I’m also a big fan of Marc Jacobs, I like quite a lot of young, cute styles really.

What are your favourite shops when you go shopping?
I’m a big high street girl. I love to shop a lot so I love Top Shop, River Island, Miss Selfridge, H&M ... I feel you can always find something young and cool and on trend there.

If you could style anyone who would it be and why?
Well I get asked this question quite a lot but there are loads of people I’d love to work with. I think someone like Katy Perry would be really cool just because she’s kind of really out there and I like to be really fun and be really girly so I just think she would be a really fun person to work with ... she has a lot of creative ideas and her team make her look really cool most of the time.

How did you get into the fashion industry?
Well my mum is a makeup artist so I’ve pretty much grown up on sets my whole life whether it’s a fashion shoot or behind the scenes at a fashion show, I’ve always been around the fashion world. I was always the one hiding in the fashion cupboard asking what I could help with, if I could steam something for anyone. I’ve always read loads of magazines and always been involved in fashion. It was something I really wanted to do. I went to drama school and considered acting for a little while but I’ve ended up presenting which is the combination of lots of passions I guess.

Excellent!  It sounds like you had the perfect childhood!
It was fun!

What advice would you give to young girls wanting to pursue a career in fashion?
You have to really love it, because it is hard work and it can take time to get somewhere but if you’ve got a passion for it just be creative, try lots of different styles and you’ll get there.

What would you say is the key look for 2013?
As a key piece I would say a leather jacket is a must have, it’s one of those things that you could totally make your own whether your style is girly or whether you’re a bit more of a tomboy.  It’s a piece you could use in lots of different ways as it’s so versatile.

Last question, what exciting things do you have lined up for the coming year?
Well, I’ve got lots of different things lined up.  I’ve got a job working with the cast of Violetta out in Argentina for the Disney Channel. I’ve styled the second season, which is really exciting for me to be involved in such a massive project. That’s filming in January so we’ve just started styling and working with them so that’s been a really cool thing I’ve been working on. I’ve got lots of cool and exciting projects going on so I’m just really looking forward to next year, I think it’s gonna be fun!

Created by Emmy-nominated Jim O'Doherty ("Grounded for Life," "3rd Rock from the Sun") and executive produced by J.J. Wall ("Til Death," "Brothers") and O'Doherty, the series stars Jason Earles, black-belt martial artist Leo Howard, Mateo Arias, Dylan Riley Snyder and Olivia Holt.

Beginning today, and airing every consecutive Monday in November during the 7:30 p.m. ET/PT telecast, as part of a Nintendo Wii U sponsorship on Disney XD, the cast of "Kickin' It" and the cast of Disney Channel's "Jessie" will be featured in a series of interstitials, going head to head in a Wii U showdown.

New episodes of "Kickin' It" air Monday nights on Disney XD. The series is produced by It's A Laugh Productions, Inc. and carries a TV-Y7 parental guideline.

Disney Channel UK to air 'Justin Bieber: All Around the World' Friday November 9, 2012

Disney Channel UK are set to air 'Justin Bieber: All Around the World' on Friday 9th November at 6.25pm.

The special goes behind the scenes of the tour and, for the first time, shows what life is like through the eyes of Justin Bieber with the "Justin-cam." It's a grueling itinerary of seven countries in 12 days, culminating in a special New York City performance.

With worldwide sales in excess of 15 million units, Bieber has dominated pop culture and social media for more than three years. He has over 43 million Facebook fans, more than 22 million Twitter followers and over 2.9 billion YouTube views. He is far and away the most popular YouTube artist of all time and received the 2012 Billboard Music Award for Social Artist of the Year.

"Believe" follows Bieber's No. 1 Christmas album, "Under the Mistletoe," which was his third No. 1 Soundscan debut in just 18 months, making him the first solo artist in Billboard history to chart three No. 1 albums before his 18th birthday. Prior to "Under the Mistletoe," "My World 2.0" entered Soundscan at No. 1 in 2010 (containing "Baby," ranked the No. 1 most viewed YouTube video, currently with over 738 million views); and "Never Say Never: The Remixes" entered at No. 1 in 2011, the soundtrack to the highest domestic-grossing concert film in U.S. history.

"Justin Bieber: All Around the World" is produced by Ian Stewart with Done and Dusted Productions.

Disney Channel Developing ‘Boy Meets World’ Sequel Series

More than a decade after Boy Meets World ended its seven-season run on ABC, its sibling the Disney Channel is eying a sequel series. The channel has closed a deal with Boy Meets World co-creator/executive produced Michael Jacobs for the project, titled Girl Meets World, which is in early stages of development. It centers on the preteen daughter of Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel), who married on the original series, and tells the story from her point of view.

Boy Meets World, the half-hour comedy that ran as part of ABC's "TGIF" block for seven seasons from 1993-2000, centered on the lessons learned by Cory Matthews as he goes through life starting as a young boy.

The world has met Cory Matthews — is it time now to meet his daughter?

The Disney Channel is in the early stages of developing a Boy Meets World sequel series called Girl Meets World, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Sources say that the cable network is trying to land original series stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to revisit their roles of sweethearts Cory and Topanga, who married before their ABC sitcom ended its seven-season run. The new series would center on their preteen daughter.

Since wrapping Boy, Savage’s TV guest-star gigs have included Bones, Chuck and Without a Trace. Fishel’s post-Boy work includes National Lampoon Presents Dorm Daze and hosting Style Network’s The Dish.
